This gallery will show photos of the cities, towns, villages, etc. that the 237th Engineer Battalion charged through and liberated beginning with the landing on Utah Beach, in Normandy, France, and ending in Germany, just east of the Rhein River.
This is the Ludendorf Bridge at Remagen: "die Brücke von Remagen" - the last intact bridge over the Rhein River in WWII. It was built from 1916 to 1918, the Americans captured it intact on 7 March 1945, it collapsed on 17 March 1945; and since 7 March 1980 a memorial for peace. It also has a small museum inside the bridgehead that is on the west side of the Rhein. I have literature that states a unit from the 237th took part of the capture.
