This is what Heilbronn looked like on 4 Dec 1944 after the allied bombing raid. The story says that the bombing raid's goal was the industrial city of Stuttgart (just south of Heilbronn) but Stuttgart turned off the lights so the bombers hit Heilbronn instead (Heilbronn did not turn off the lights).
